The Complete Palworld Breeding Guide

Breeding is the fastest way to get rare Pals with the perfect combination of passive skills. This guide covers everything from building your first Breeding Farm to chaining inheritance for a god-tier offspring.

1. What you need to start

• Breeding Farm — unlocked at Technology level 19 (cost: 100 points). Place it on flat ground inside your base.
• Two Pals of opposite gender — same species or different. The result depends on the formula, not the gender.
• Cake — required to start a breeding cycle. One cake per egg.
• An Incubator — unlocked at level 7. You will want several once you scale up.

2. The Cake recipe

Build a Cooking Pot (level 17) and combine:

• 5× Flour (mill Wheat at the Mill)
• 8× Red Berries
• 7× Milk (from Mozzarina)
• 8× Eggs (from Chikipi)
• 2× Honey (from Beegarde or Cinnamoth)

Cake spoils, so cook on demand. Keep a refrigerator nearby to extend its life.

3. How offspring is determined

Every Pal has a hidden Combi Power value. The game calculates a target value of floor((Parent1 Power + Parent2 Power + 1) / 2), then picks the Pal whose Combi Power is closest to that target.

A handful of unique pairings override this formula and always produce a specific variant — like Relaxaurus + Sparkit producing Relaxaurus Lux. Our calculator handles both cases automatically.

4. Passive skill inheritance

Each parent contributes passive skills to the offspring. Up to 4 passives can roll, with diminishing odds. To stack the best traits:

1. Catch many copies of the same Pal and identify ones with desirable passives like Lucky, Ferocious, or Burly Body.
2. Breed pairs that share strong passives to increase the chance of inheritance.
3. Repeat across generations until your target Pal has all four desired passives.

5. Egg types and incubation

Eggs come in five sizes (Common, Large, Huge, Giant, Mega) and four element types (Damp, Verdant, Scorching, Frozen, Dark, Electric, Dragon, Rocky). Place the matching environment item next to the incubator (campfire for Scorching, ice for Frozen, etc.) to halve incubation time.

Frequently asked questions

Does gender affect the offspring?

No. Only the species of the parents matters for what hatches.

Can I breed legendaries?

You can breed legendary Pals like Frostallion, Jetragon, and Necromus once caught — but they cannot be produced through breeding from other Pals.

How long does breeding take?

A Pal couple takes a few in-game minutes to produce an egg, then incubation runs from ~10 minutes (Common) to over an hour (Mega).
